Arsenal unveiled their home kit for the 2016-17 season on Monday,
including a shirt that has some intriguing new features.
A statement on the club’s official website outlined the key details of the jersey, including a “distinctive
vertical stripe” on the front of the shirt. Other key components include “a
heat transfer gothic A on the reverse of the neck,” as well as “Puma’s iconic
T7 Form Stripe running along each sleeve.”
“I like the design with the line in the centre, it’s something
different,” said Bellerin in the article. “I’ve seen the players modelling it
and I think it’s going to look really good.”
Arsenal supporters are able to pre-order the jersey via the club’s website,
with an “authentic” version poised to set consumers back a costly £100. The
replica and ladies shirts cost a cool £55, while juniors will need to save up £45 of pocket money to get their hands on the
famous red-and-white garment.
The Gunners will debut
the kit in the United States on May 26 when they face Seattle Reign in a
friendly, while the new gear will be available to buy in-store from June 3.
The club also confirmed that not only will there be a change of
kit this season, there’ll be a new number for one player, Alexis Sanchez. The
Chilean will trade in No. 17 for No. 7 following the departure of Tomas Rosicky
t’s a kit a lot of the club’s supporters had
already seen prior to this unveiling; Granit Xhaka, who the BBC said is "close" to
signing for the club from Borussia Monchengladbach, was pictured in the strip recently, per
talkSPORT’s Stan Collymore
Arsenal will
be hoping this is a jersey etched into the club’s folklore at the end of next
season. After finishing in second spot in the previous campaign, ousting local
rivals Tottenham Hotspur on the
final day of the season, the Gunners will
feel confident of mounting a title challenge in the upcoming term.
